About The Role

Seeking an EXPERIENCED Credit Analyst to join our One Big Happy Little Bank. This position is primarily responsible for gathering and analyzing credit information on current and potential borrowers; provides data to determine the advisability of granting credit for diversified types of loans; assists loan officers in writing loan requests. Assists Lenders by ordering appraisals and evaluations and submits related invoices for payment.

The starting pay for this position is $51,500.0 per year. All compensation offers are analyzed individually and take into consideration multiple factors including but not limited to geographic location, years of experience, and educational background.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Inputs customer financial information into computerized spreadsheets and generates reports that depict financial trends and ratios.
  • Analyzes credit data and financial statements to determine the degree of risk involved in extending credit or lending money.
  • Prepares reports that include the degree of risk involved in extending credit or lending money.
  • Analyze financial data such as income growth, trends, quality of financial management, and market share to help determine expected profitability of loans.
  • Evaluates customer records based on earnings, savings data, payment history, and purchase activity. Confers with CPAs and borrowers, when cleared by Lender, to understand financial information submitted for loan requests.
  • Generates financial ratios, including debt service coverage ratios, using computer programs, to evaluate customers' financial status.
  • Works with Loan Officers to prepare loan requests for Loan Committee review, when requested
  • Serves as liaison between lenders and appraisers. Orders appraisals and evaluations, forwards appraisals and evaluations to Lenders when complete and submits invoices for payment.

  • Must comply with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.

  • Participate in Community Service and Bank sponsored activities that serve and support the mission and values of the Bank of the San Juans.
  • Provide superior internal and external customer service: must demonstrate self-governance, courtesy and respect toward external customers as well as internal customers (all organization personnel).
  • Complete required bank and BVS training courses within assigned time frame(s).
  • Represent Bank of the San Juans in a professional manner which includes a professional image, confidentiality, a positive "can-do" attitude, good attendance, punctuality, flexibility and adaptability in meeting bank and customer needs. Keep work area tidy and maintain customer privacy. Attends and participates in meetings as required.

About You

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Combination of education and experience equivalent to a four-year college degree or completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school.
  • Two to five years of similar or related experience, including time spent in preparatory positons.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, ABILITY:

  • Knowledge of bank loan services, policies, and procedures (preferred). Understanding of related legal and regulatory standards, and required loan documentation. General understanding of accounting concepts and terms, double-entry bookkeeping and balance sheet-income statement relationships. Working knowledge of Moody's Analytic software or other financial spreading software is desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills-written and verbal.

    Strong analytical and financial skills.
    Ability to operate related computer applications, and other business equipment
    including calculators, typewriter, printer, and telephone. Ability to work with spreadsheet and word processing software.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with moderate noise level.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to: sit; use hands in repetitive motions to finger, grasp, handle or feel; and talk or hear, as well as be required to: stand; walk; and lift or reach with hands and arms. The employee may also be required to: crouch (Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine), stoop (Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires full motion of the lower extremities and back muscles), push (Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or outward), pull (Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion).

Must be able to operate routine office equipment including computer terminals and keyboards, telephones, copiers, facsimiles, and calculators. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours or travel off site whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in an emergency situation.

Specific lifting abilities required by this job include: Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include: The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation/inspection of machines and/or using measurement devices at distances close to the eyes.
