Gas Transmission Engineer-20529

Description
As a Gas Transmission Engineer, you will be responsible for design engineering and project management within our HP (High Pressure) Gas Pipeline department. In this role, you will work on capital and O&M based projects for our Gas Transmission System. For capital projects, you will lead cross-functional teams in the areas of sourcing, ROW (Right of Way), operations, and engineering to develop/define project schedules, cost estimates, scopes of work, and final design. For O&M projects, you will interface with Gas Designers, Gas Planners, Field Crews, Operations, and Integirty Management. You will also lead the construction effort in the implementation of projects while monitoring cost and schedule. This position is posted as a hierarchy and the successful candidate will be placed within the levels (Specialty Engineer, Sr. Specialty Engineer, Principal Engineer) commensurate with skills and experience.
Summary
A Gas Transmission Engineer works as a fully competent engineer in all conventional aspects of the subject matter of the functional area of the assignments, plans and conducts work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection and substantial adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures and criteria. Devises new approaches to problems encountered. Requires sufficient professional experience to assure competence as fully trained worker.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Plans, schedules, conducts, or coordinates detailed phases of the engineering work in a part of a major project or in a total project of moderate scope. Performs work which involves conventional engineering practice but may include a variety of complex features, such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, and difficult coordination requirements. Work requires a broad knowledge of precedents in the specialty area and a good knowledge of related specialties.
  • Independently performs most assignments with instructions as to the general results expected. Receives technical guidance on unusual or complex problems and supervisory approval on proposed plans for projects.
  • May supervise or coordinate the work of engineers, drafters, technicians, and others who assist in specific assignments.

Qualifications

We are looking for an experienced engineer to join our HP Gas Engineering team! The requirements below pertain to different levels of our engineering hierarchy. Higher level positions have higher educational and experiential requirements.

Education


  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering from ABET accredited curriculum (equivalency to an ABET accredited degree would be recognized by ABET as having "substantial equivalency" or through a "mutual recognized agreement")
  • Passed the FE (Fundamentals of Engineering Exam) or possess EIT (Engineer-in-Training) certification is required
  • Licensed PE (Professional Engineer) certification is required for the Principal Engineer level and is preferred for the Specialty and Sr. Specialty levels
  • Master's degree in the field of Engineering, Math, or Science from an ABET accredited curriculum is preferred

Experience

  • 3 years engineering experience in the utility industry in gas transmission (or related area providing equivalent knowledge) is required for the Specialty Engineer level. Further years of experience are required for higher level positions.
  • Membership in Professional Society (Member Grade) and/or Technical Societies (Member Grade) is preferred
  • Project management experience preferred
